• Phonology and Orthography
• Phoneme-Grapheme Correspondence
• Structure of Syllables, Patterns & Division
• Phases of Reading & Spelling Development

The course is suitable for educators who wish to learn more about the Orton-Gillingham Approach to support leaners who struggle with language, including educators, tutors, special education teachers, reading teachers, literacy coaches, Speech & Language pathologists, learning assistant teachers, parents of children with learning difficulties, professionals in children's health sectors, and individuals seeking a career in educational therapy. This level is appropriate for groups of students and one-on-one instruction in and outside of a school.

This class serves as prerequisite coursework for Part 2 of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners & Educators Associate Level Practitioner training or OG Classroom Educator training.
